Bernardo lo Cascio is born 30 August 1833 in Corleone. According to the midwife, Bernardo is the son of Vincenza Mangano, age 28, and Biagio lo Cascio, age 35, villico. He is baptized the same day. Bernardo is named after his paternal grandfather, as is traditional for the first born son. His godparents are Michael Angelo and Bernarda Gariffo, a married couple.
In 1834, Maestro Biaggio Castro, 38 (b. 1796), his wife Vincenza, 35 (b. 1799), and their children Giuseppa, 9 (b. 1725), Rosalia, 6 (b. 1728), Bernarda, 3 (b. 1731), and Bernardo, 1 (b. 1733), live in the SE part of town.[1]
Bernardo marries Angela Monreale on 12 January 1868 in the Church, and on 7 February 1868 in the civil office. They have at least three children together: Biagia (1869), Salvatore (1870), and Biagio (c. 1874).
Biagia is born and baptized on 4 May 1869. She is baptized Blasiam. Her godparents are Giovanni Trapani and Bernarda Cascio.
Biagia dies the following day.
Salvator is born and baptized on 14 June 1870. His baptismal name is Salvatorem. His godmother is his aunt Rosalia Cascio, wife of Francesco Lombardo.
Salvatore dies on 26 December, at six months of age.
I estimate Biagio, named after his paternal grandfather, is born around 1874, twenty years before he marries.
According to a letter from Spedale Dei Bianchi di Corleone, Bernardo Cascio dies 17 March 1880 at age 46, suffering from pneumonia. His father has passed away, but his mother is still living. Bernardo's mother and widow live in the Santa Maria district.
The Church record of Bernardo's death dates it a day earlier. His wife, Angela, survives him.
Biagio marries Arcangela Zabbia on 30 July 1894.
Angela remarries, to Vincenzo lo Bello, on 9 September 1884.
